Yoga beyond the pose.

I'm Leonor — Unmani Ananda. For 15 years I've practised and taught in the Samkhya tradition — breath, stillness and song alongside the shapes. Small classes, unhurried, open to complete beginners.

The practice

Yoga was never only about the shapes.

I was taught in the Samkhya tradition — the older philosophical system that yoga grew out of. It takes the whole person seriously: the body, yes, but equally the breath, the senses, and the mind running commentary over all of it.

So my classes are never only asana. Over a week you get five strands, in different proportions depending on the day.

  • Leonor at a lakeside railing with mountains behind her
  • Leonor lying on the floor reading and writing notes

  • Leonor in a reclining posture on a mat at home

Five strands

A whole practice

  • 01

    Asana

Posture held with attention. The shape is a means of steadying the breath, never a performance — and there is always a variation that meets you where you are.

  • 02

    Pranayama

Structured breathwork, built up slowly. Nadi shodhana, kapalabhati, lengthened exhale. This is where most people notice the change first.

  • 03

    Kriya

Cleansing actions that clear the body and quieten a busy mind. Unglamorous, deeply practical, and older than almost everything else we do.

  • 04

    Yoga Nidra

Guided yogic sleep. You lie down, stay awake as long as you can, and are rested in a way ordinary sleep rarely manages.

  • 05

    Kirtan

Call-and-response chant. No skill required, nobody is listening but you, and it lengthens the exhale without you ever thinking about it.
